Highlights:
-Ben Cowman described various diversity and inclusions initiatives; Student Diversity and Equity Council; Peers for inclusion, Empowerment and Respect; Cultural Plunge Program and Global Competency Certification; Safe Zone Certification; Breakthrough CNU
-Annual Review Proposal: faculty dislike current model used for scoring; CUC agreed on new model which was presented; discussion ensued
-Strategic Planning: senate proposed that department chairs develop 5 year strategic plan on tenure track/renewable contract ratio; a discussion regarding this, the 6 year plan, curricular bloat, and class size was had
-Department Eval-4s: Departments encouraged to develop or revise Eval-4s this led to discussion of lecturer promotion and multi-year contracts vs tenure track promotions
-IDEA should be 50% of teaching evaluation, IDEA committee will make recommendations regarding the other 50%
-Academic Affairs: salaries in regards to gender equity; Provost demonstrated that gender equity does exist; CNU made strong progress in admission goals
-Finance: Goals presented in 6 year plan that will guide budget planning were presented; State provides 30% Education and General budget vs 70% from 10 years ago
-Departmental liaisons and committee members were listed
-Goals and subcommittees for 2015-2016 AY; Review and revise grievance and hearings procedures; review handbook section XII; streamline process for curriculum proposals; final exam policy
-Follett: students unable to get books until week 3 or 4 of classes; returning to on site bookstore; was losing money; revenues via Follett; Follett meets state requirement of publishing book orders early so students can compare purchase options; what do others schools use, especially PBK schools
-Civic and Democratic Engagement Area of Inquiry: clarification needed on scope of this area
-Title IX: presentation well received; could counseling office offer sessions on how to let students know about required reporting; Could Michelle Moody lead sessions using various scenarios and advising how to proceed
-Budget Advisory Committee Memo should be revised, should include funding for PBK initiative
-Lecturer proposal will be re-sent to Senators
