-President’s Report: Open Enrollment for the Optional Retirement Plan in October
-BOV Reports: Academic Affairs - U.S. News and World Report rankings; 276 full-time faculty; Provost recently attended a meeting of all Virginia state Provosts, which included a briefing about the budget; Provost will try to increase faculty salaries by a little bit, though at this point it is unlikely that we will reach our target 300 full-time faculty by 2022; CNU ranks third in the state for percentage of students studying abroad; overview of Core Advising program provided; updates on Liberal Learning Core assessment; Reaffirmation Committee has completed the Compliance Certification Report for SACSCOC
Advancement- Most of the meeting was spent summarizing the Capital Campaign
Audit and Finance - reviewed the previous fiscal year's revenues and expenditures; Ferguson Center not profitable; An addendum to the Six Year Plan recommended to the full board to change the priorities; Senators discussed these issues
Student Life - Vice Provost Lisa Duncan Raines reported on survey administered to the class of 2012; “Finding Your Port of Call" student success initiative; “Accounting Day” held by Luter School & Career Center; first-year retention rate is 87%, and our six-year graduation rate is 75%; Summer Bridge Program is a student success initiative that identifies at risk students; met our admission goal; Student Affairs is now divided into two units: Campus Life; and Leadership and Student Life; “special interest housing,”
Buildings and Grounds - Bill Brauer provided updates on construction projects and plans
-Curriculum Proposal: editing of the curricular proposal; edits and observations are listed
-BAC Memo: combine the prior BAC memo that addressed budget cuts with the current memo that addresses funding priorities for good budget years
-Hillow Emeritus Resolution approved
-Faculty Excellence Awards - reviewed the new application form and made two emendations
-Faculty Development Grants - schedule given
-Pass-Fail Option for Study Abroad Programs - approved proposal
