Description
PARK(ing) DAY is an outreach event organized by Christopher Newport University, the Newport News Green Foundation, and the City of Newport News. It is designed to encourage conversations within the community about urban green space and sustainability. The goal is to create temporary green space, provide educational material about sustainability, and promote community and University relations. The daylong event will include food trucks from Eat The Streets 757, entertainment, outdoor activities (such as fitness class by CNU Fitness), and small, temporary green spaces designed and installed by (1) Newport News Green Foundation and NN Green Team; (2) Newport News Parks, Recreation & Tourism; (3) James River Association and Appomattox River Company; and (4) CNU Green Team
Location: the parklets will be located in the Trible Plaza at CNU, Eat the Streets 757 food trucks will be along the side road where the CNU Farmer's Market is held throughout the year.
Parking: If you happen to be driving to this event, you can park in the visitor's parking lot located next to the Ferguson Center.
