Description

Patricia Foreman is a sustainable agriculture author, local foods activist, and popular speaker. Pat and her co-presenter, chicken celebrity Oprah Hen-Free, have presented workshops and book signings at major national festivals and conferences across the U.S., including Mother Earth Fairs, Monticello Heritage Harvest Festivals, National Heirloom Festival and many others. She is a often a guest on radio and TV talk shows, including NPR and CBS. She was the co-host of the “Chicken Whisperer” radio show for 4 years.

Pat graduated from Purdue University with degrees in pharmacy and agriculture (animal science, genetics and nutrition). She earned a Masters of Public Affairs (MPA) from Indiana Universityʼs Graduate School of Public and Environmental Affairs.

She is the author of the paradigm-shifting book: City Chicks: Employing Chickens as Garden Helpers, Compost Creators, Bio-Recyclers and Local Food Suppliers. She is co-author of the books Chicken Tractor, Day Range Poultry, and Backyard Market Gardening. Pat is the developer of the “Chickens and YOUTM” training series, leading to the Master Backyard Chicken Keeper certification, which operates under The Gossamer Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to global sustainability and local foods.
