Description

The Multicultural Student Association will be having our first meeting of the semester on Tuesday, February 27 in the Washington Room at 12:30. Lunch will be provided!

Our theme for the meeting will be Whitewashing in Hollywood. If you are unaware of what whitewashing is, please let us share the definition MSA is using. From Complex, whitewashing is "a kind of casting where film studios have placed white actors in lead roles under the assumption that the majority of Americans would rather see a white face than a non-white one—despite what the role calls for". Some examples would be Dastan in Prince of Persia, Cleopatra, and the cast of Exodus.

If you have your own examples of whitewashing and want to share your thoughts, we would love if you'd bring them to the meeting to discuss!
Available online only.
