Description

On Monday, December 1st join the Film Club of CNU in Room 101 of McMurran Hall at 7PM as Zenith Haas presents her Interdisciplinary Studies Capstone Project.

This presentation will coincide with Dr. Nichols' Introduction to Film Studies lecture on the Future of Film. It will feature the innovation and conversion in cinema throughout history, and a screening of the documentary, Side By Side, an enlightening film that focuses on a timely discussion of film in the digital age.

Regardless of the direction or preferred medium film-makers choose, we are not only changing the way that movies are made, but also how they are seen. Zenith will discuss the issues presented in the film, and their relation to past and current adaptions that have been made by motion picture theaters across the country, especially amidst the theaters' new mandate to convert to digital projection with a video interview with the owner of Naro Expanded Cinema in Norfolk, VA.

As a senior Interdisciplinary Studies major with a concentration in Film History, Zenith has created her own curriculum designed to prepare her for a career in Motion Picture Archiving and Preservation. She is the founder and president of the Film Club of CNU and her initiatives have shape the organization's programing goals. She has developed the Leadership in Film Series for CNU’s Presidential Leadership Program, as well as CNU’s first Student Film Festival. She has served on the screening board for the On Screen/In Person film series for two years and also the Workshop Coordinator for the program.

This event is free and open to the public.
