Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students:
Dr. David Cleeton, Associate Provost and Professor of Economics at Oberlin College, has agreed to serve as Dean of Luter College of Business and Leadership, effective July 1, 2008. Dr. Cleeton was shortlisted for the position and interviewed on campus. David received his Ph.D. from Washington University at St. Louis and his BA and MA from the University of Missouri.
I have personally thanked Dean Motilla for her distinguished service as Dean of Luter. Donna advanced our University's stature by leading a successful bid for AACSB accreditation. We are very grateful for her eight-year tenure as Dean. I have also thanked Stephanie Bardwell for serving as Acting Dean this academic year. It has been a pleasure to work with Dean Bardwell this year, and I look forward to furthering our administrative cooperation as she assumes the role of Chair of Management and Marketing in the fall.
I thank all of the CNU faculty, staff, students, and friends that assisted in this important search. Especially, I recognize Lisa Spiller as the Chair of the Search Committee.
I look forward, with you, to welcoming David and Betty Cleeton to our campus community.
Secondly, I wish to share with you the news that Dean Douglas Gordon has expressed his intention to retire in June 2009. A national search will begin in the fall to hire a new Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with the anticipated starting date of July 1, 2009. A search committee chaired by a CLAS faculty member will be formed soon.
Thank you for your attention to this information.
