I thought you may want a bit more information on E.J. "King" Meehan for your future discussions with the President regarding his plaque. Meehan was a Peninsula businessman who was one of the key figures in Christopher Newport College's founding. Working in conjunction with other businessmen and civic leaders, he helped convince government authorities in the late 1950s of the need for a local college for Peninsula residents. He was also a lead figure in advocating for CNC's transition to four-year status in the late 1960s. Along with CCing Amy Boykin, I have also included Rita Hubbard in case she wants to add anything. In short, Meehan is someone who should indeed be remembered on our campus. Thanks,
