The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia approved a Bachelor of Science degree program for Chemistry at CNU.

The CNU Board of Visitors eliminated the Department of Education. Juniors currently seeking their teacher certification will be able to earn both their baccalaureate degrees and certification by the end of the 2003-2004 academic year.

As of July 1, 1999, Dr. Donna Mottilla has been named the new Director of the School of Business.

Only students who have completed the required credit hours may march in the May 2000 ceremony. Those who are close will be able to march in the first December ceremony, which is being held on a trial basis.

Bob Winder has been appointed as the Director of Business Programs.
Winder and Dean Webb were asked to work with department chairs and faculty members to identify program needs and priorities, and to submit recommendations by July 1997.
