The fire was on the roof above the reading room of the Mariners' Library. The fire department and our security were able to move everything out of the way so no furniture nor materials were damaged. The reading room did sustain some water damage, but restoration work began 2 hours after the fire was put out. The collection is now open by appointment only until the reading room is restored.
